Is it necessary to have a corporate seal?

No. A corporate seal can be used by the business to denote that a document or filing has been certified by the company and agreed to by the company’s management. For example, corporate seals are often used on stock certificates, to demonstrate that the certificate is valid, and properly issued.

However, advances in technology have largely supplanted the necessity of corporate seals (for examples, because stock certificates are not always issued in paper form).

A corporate seal still, however, retains a sense of authority and the mark of identity for a corporation.
